Well, I flew off the deep end here and installed the KDE version of Ubuntu, aptly named Kubuntu. Very nice and pretty interface, quite a change from Ubuntu’s brownish-orange theme. But, I found once in the KDE desktop it is almost a completely different system. The main reason why I wanted to use it, was to be able to take advantage of Quanta+’s FTP capabilities, however I could not seem to get some of my most basic tools configured correctly. After spending about 2 hours with it, I finally thought to myself, “Well, forget it, I was able to get the Gnome version working just how I wanted it.
You know when you work on the bleeding edge of things, sometimes it’s just smarter to stay with what you have instead of trying to re-do EVERYTHING! I’m really not frustrated with Kubuntu, I’m really just tired now. I have re-installed the gnome version, and now I begin the painstaking task of re-discovering all my login ID’s and passwords. If anyone out there just absolutely LOVES Kubuntu, be sure to leave a comment, I don’t think I could say one way or the other whether or not KDE is worth it, but I will say this, it has a visually appealing theme. ![]()
