Me, Feedburner and a Dumb Mistake

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I just love it when something to blog about just happens to pop up on it’s own. If you have read my past posts you will know that I tend to write mini-novels instead of just sweet concise and condensed snippets of reality. It’s just my style. Because of the overall length of many of my posts I have to hunt far and wide for a nice sizable topic, or at least a topic I can make larger than it really is. Hey! I have to be me!

MyBlogLogThis morning I got an interesting private message on ‘MyBlogLog’. As a side note ‘MyBlogLog’ is really quite cool. I hate having to keep up with something else but I believe it is really worth it. Without going into great depth about ‘MyBlogLog’ you should go check it out.  In any case the message goes like this. “Hey - something’s up with your comment system. When submitting a comment, I’m prompted with a feedburner popup to confirm my email subscription to your feed! Yikes!”

I went to my second computer, went to the site and tried to leave a comment. Sure enough, I was prompted to confirm my email subscription. I have a second blog I was/am in the process of hacking up, so my mind went through all the iterations of files I had edited and whether I got the two sites mixed up. I poured through some code in the ‘Content.php’ file, and the ‘Content-Ajax.php’ file, when I stopped myself. It is just like me and many others I know to try and make a mountain of code out of a widget. GASP! A widget! Quickly I logged into my blogs back-end went straight to the widget area, and copy pasted my ‘Subscribe’ widget into an editor. Sure enough, there was the problem. There was a <form> tag, but no </form> tag.

I think it is at this time, I should iterate that every once in awhile you should go through your blog and click on stuff, just to be sure. Where did the </form> tag go? Who knows, I probably deleted it while drinking my morning coffee.
