Clipmarks: Making Page Blogging Easier

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Every once in awhile I just have to kill about three or four hours perusing the Firefox addons. And everytime I do I download and install many worthless add ons. Well, maybe not worthless, but usually those things that get in my way of actually getting things done. But not today my friends! Today I downloaded something really nice.

TVI’ve been dabbling with Joost for a few months now (my first mention of it was in May). While I really liked the concept:

All the things you love about TV, fused with all the fun and interactive power of the Internet.

  blog it

Say you are surfing along and you find a web site you really like it. You bookmark it, then add it to an RSS feed maybe. Then you decide it is so unique you just HAVE to put it on your blog site. So you find your way around the pages security efforts to safeguard their images, download a copy of the image, then alter it so it will fit nicely within the context of your post. Then you begin the painstaking task of trying to write something witty and provocative. Well those days are almost over. Now with a little add-in called ‘Clipmarks’ you can go to a site, and if you find it worthwhile to blog about, you simply ‘clip’ it and click a ‘blog’ button to start adding it to your blog. Sounds easy enough? Well, there are a few things to configure.
1. You need to sign up with an account and enable the ‘blog’ functionality.
2. Disable those silly orange lines. When you turn on the ‘clipmarks’ an orange line appears that kind of auto-selects the area your mouse cursor is on. Once you have what you want selected you just simply click and clipmarks fires away. Or if you want more control, simply disable the orange lines, and anything you high-light with your cursor you can add to a blog, email to a friend (or yourself), save to your clipmarks page or event print.

The orange bar at the top will also tell you how many characters you have clipped in the current selection.

I don’t have a lot of experience with this thing yet, but so far it looks like it will be one of those add-ons I will hang onto for awhile.
